Sketch Cards on eBay!

I've been rescanning and relisting sketch cards on eBay! I lost all my scans a few months back when an external hard drive crashed. It's taken time to rescan all the cards. I still have some to scan. Here are a few of the cards...

If you want to see more, here's a link to my sketch card listings: Korok Studios Sketch Cards

That takes you directly to sketch cards. Just click "View Seller's Auctions" if you want to see the beefcake (nsfw) photos as well.

Season's Greetings!

Surviving the Season

Well, it's not as bad as all that, but...

The Post Office is a killer! I have to go to the Post Office on a regular basis to mail out packages. It's a pain, but it has to be done. It's work! With the holiday season, it's a real pain. The branch near me serves several zip codes. It's a large office, but it's not always managed well. With the holidays, they need four or five clerks at all times. Now, they have had four clerks the last few times I've gone, so maybe the manager caught on.

Today's wait was 22 minutes. I've been there for 40, so I can't complain. The line moved steadily too, even with the man ahead of me who was mailing 12 or so boxes, and the other man who had a bag of 20 cards that needed to be weighed individually. When I left, the wait looked like it would be longer than what it was when I got there.

For running errands this morning, I deserve the vegan ginger cookie I got while I was at Whole Foods! Yummy! (No, I'm not vegan, but I'm not afraid of vegan food. Some of it is quite awesome!)

I hope that everyone has a good Holiday season this year, no matter what holiday you do (or do not) celebrate. Smile, and greet people appropriately, and accept the greetings you receive (even if they don't match up to what you celebrate - it's all good!). Love is the reason!

How To Get Amazon Gift Cards!

There are a lot of online / blog articles about getting gift cards, earning cash, etc... They offer titles like 10 Crazy Ways To Earn Extra Cash to 99 Ways To Earn Free Stuff Online. You get the idea. And there's nothing wrong with any of them. They all have something to offer, and you should check them out. Just don't expect to be able to put every idea to use. Also, some of these articles make it sound like you will earn an easy living this way. No. To do that, you'd have to work more than full time hours doing little things. A lot of the tasks you get rewards for take some time. What you will earn is extra cash here and there. I make using these sites part of my online routine, but I don't devote hours on end to them.

I'm going to give you some info on the four sites I get rewards from most often.

Now, I love Amazon. It's a great site! I find all kinds of fun stuff there, so gift cards from Amazon are my reward of choice. Most of these sites have rewards from multiple places, so you can get gift cards from anywhere, or in some instances get a cash card to use. Your choice.

Inbox Dollars is a good site. You can be rewarded by clicking on emails, taking advantage of offers, answering surveys, searching online, playing games, etc... I often search online. There is a weekly bonus if you use their search every day. They change up the search rewards, but it's often a penny per search. Sometimes, it's 1 to 4 cents per 4 searches. I also click on the emails and answer the odd survey. You have to earn $30 before you get a reward. I tend to earn this in about 9 months, give or take. The bad: even though I clicked on every email, they took the individual emails from me. I guess because I don't take advantage of offers. Bitter. I still like Inbox Dollars

A similar site is Send Earnings. Works the same, as far as I can tell. I haven't gotten a reward from them yet, but I'm working on it...

MyPoints is the site I've used the longest. They send you emails, in which you click a button and you get a reward. Once you earn enough points, you can cash in for a gift card! On average 1,700-1,800 points gets you a $10 gift card somewhere. Just reading emails, it pays out in about a year. You can also take advantage of offers and online shopping to earn more points, print and use coupons, etc... Check their site when you join and find out what earning opportunities are available.

Finally, InstaGC is a good site. You set your rewards goal and do things like watch videos, answer surveys, do tasks, etc... I have a $5 goal, which is 500 points. How quickly I earn this depends on my motivation. Sometimes I am more motivated than others. I have reached goal within a week however. It's worth checking out.

SuperPoints is the last site I'm gonna talk about. Again, you do things like answer surveys, submit web-sites, check out random sites, and use their Super Lucky Button! I mostly use the Super Lucky Button. I have earned several $1 gift cards from them. I'm sure if I did more activities, I would earn more. It's a good site, and worth checking out.

How much you earn is ultimately up to you. I spend maybe 10 minutes a day on these activities. Sometimes more, but on average, I would say it's 10 minutes.  I recommend doing what appeals to you and have fun with it.

Please click my links when you go to check these sites out. One way to earn is by referring others, and I would appreciate the clicks.

And, if anyone is feeling generous, I do have an Amazon Wish List! Everything gets reviewed here and a shout out to the giver, as well as a digital goodie or two for the giver.

I hope you found this article helpful. If you know of a rewards site I haven't mentioned, give them a shout out (with your referral link) in the comments!

Take Care!

Update: Since I wrote this, I have earned my first $30 reward on SendEarnings! Yay! It's processing now.

Also, I earned a MyPoints reward a couple of weeks ago. I responded to an offer earlier this week, and now I'm close to another reward.... maybe five weeks away if all I do is read emails. Woo hoo!

As I said above, have fun with these sites. View them as a bonus. Don't get down if you're trying to take surveys and you don't qualify. I don't qualify for most of the surveys I try for. Most sites will still reward you something for trying. If it gets frustrating, just move on and come back to it later.

Letter To The Editor

Today I wrote a letter to the editor of the local paper. I had read an article about a proposed anti-discrimination bill that would protect the LGBT community from being discriminated against in regards to jobs, housing, medical care, etc... Having faced discrimination myself, I am in favor of such a bill. Of course, the usual group of so-called "Christians" want to protect their "God told me to hate you" way of life. Honestly, they are so annoying! Anyway, the letter says it better..

After reading about the meeting for the proposed anti-discrimination bill, I have to say this... I feel sorry for those so-called Christians who use their religion as an excuse to hate and discriminate against others. Carrying around that hatred has got to be a burden. I hope they can set that burden down and focus on something positive, like helping to feed the hungry for example.

Kudos to the religious leaders who believe in equality! I have always felt that religion should be there to help people be the best that they can be! We need more of you to stand up and speak so those who would use religion to foster hate can have a positive example to follow. Don't allow the ones who speak out of hatred or fear be the ones to speak for you.

An anti-discrimination bill should not be about anyone's right to free speech or religion. By the same token, religion has no business dictating the law of our land. Instead of worrying about the things that make us different, why don't we focus on what we have in common?

December rush, rush, rush!

I feel like I'm neglecting the blog, but I've been busy, busy, busy! My Thanksgiving went well, and I had fun shopping with my brother and nephew on "Black Friday". I went shopping with my brother again yesterday, to help him finish up some of his holiday shopping. I tried to finish some of mine as well, but that didn't get done until today. I only have one person left to buy for! YAY! I like to get the shopping finished around this time.

eBay has been given me more free listings to use, so I've been busy listing beefcake photos, as well as some comics and sketch cards. The beefcake photos are where I make my most money, so they get priority. I'm of the "if you don't list it you can't sell it" school of thought, so I like to use up as many listings as possible. Need a beefcake fix? Check out  It's NSFW, so fair warning...

I'm also busy pulling holiday decorations out of the storage unit, driving Mom here and there, doing this, doing that, etc... I feel like I barely have time for myself right now, but I do make time in the evenings to chill out and relax. Been watching Jessica Jones on Netflix, which has been enjoyable!

Not much else to report, but I didn't want anyone to feel that I had completely forgotten this blog. Hoping things will calm down soon, and I can report on something fun soon... like a day trip down to St. Augustine or a new recipe.

Take Care!

Getting ready for Thanksgiving and Black Friday...

Thanksgiving is on the horizon! Woo hoo! I've been getting ready. My sister-in-law and niece are coming to town to visit, so I'm busy cleaning house. I still have to get a few things at the grocery store as well. I pretty much have cooking the meal well in hand. My brother will help with prep work, and it's basically do a little something, go away for a while, come back and do some more, etc... We eat our meal at dinner time, so we have all day to cook. I feel that instead of trying to get it all done at once, it's easier to just take our time, and take breaks! We serve turkey, dressing, gravy, rice, corn, beans, candied sweet potatoes, baked apples, and cranberry sauce. For dessert there will be pumpkin, pecan, and frosted cherry pies. I usually get the pecan pies baked the day before, and pies are the first thing I work on in the morning!

Of course, following Thanksgiving is "Black Friday". I just love how the name that retailers gave that day leaked out to the public. Sadly, so many stores open on Thanksgiving now. I don't approve, but understand that if you've got kids, you likely have to go out and get those deals. I have most of my holiday shopping done by Thanksgiving, so for me, Black Friday is mostly to find stuff like dvd's. My brother and I started going each year, and have been doing so for quite some time.

Need some unique Holiday gift ideas? You know I gotta plug my art! Original art can be a fun gift, as well as beaded jewelry. You will find both at my Etsy store:

Looking for things like t-shirts? Or coffee mugs? You can get my art on lots of cool items in my Zazzle, Society6, and Red Bubble stores. And you get more choices of designs, from comic book heroes to digitally altered photos & paintings, to just about anything my fevered brain comes up with!

I also have sketch cards & beefcake photos in my eBay store! Warning: my eBay store isn't for everyone's taste. The store is divided into sections, so if you only want to look at sketch cards, or comic books, you have that option. BTW: beefcake fans, I will have a Black Friday sale for photos!

I hope that everyone has a Happy Thanksgiving! Take Care!

Monkees Monthly #9

My Monkees obsession continues. I just got a copy of Monkees Monthly #9. This was a UK published fanzine, from the 1960's. I now have five issues, and I'm surprised by how good the condition of these zines are! Are these from some stash of uncirculated copies? The five issues I've managed to find all appear to be unread, and the worst damage was that one had a bit of spine roll, like it had been sitting in a stack for a long time.

Anyway, I haven't read this issue yet, but I have looked through it. Lots of great photos, as always! I've scanned some for your enjoyment!

Beaded Necklace Commission

This past week I finished up a commissioned necklace piece. The buyer wanted a substantial piece, and I did this double-stranded necklace. It is similar to pieces I have done before. I used a black, white, grey, and silver seed bead mix and then specialty beads for the accents. The jump ring is there at the buyer's request, and he wanted a necklace he could just put on over his head. I had fun doing this piece, and hope to get some more beadwork done soon!

Abstract Beaded Bracelet!

I created a new bracelet, using a freestyle peyote stitch. It's been a while since I've done any beadwork, so completing this felt great!

I hope that everyone had a Happy Hallowe'en! Mine was so-so. Not many kids out trick-or-treating, so there's a good bit of leftover candy. Woo woo!

The last couple of days, I've been working on listing beefcake photos on eBay! You can check them out at:  I had a photo shoot with a new model last week, and some of those are listed, as well as many, many others.

I haven't started writing yet for NaNoWriMo. I'm still reading over what I wrote last year. Almost done with it tho, and hope to start writing today or tomorrow. I've seen where I need to work on parts of what's been written, but I want to finish the story before I do any rewrites.

That's about all I have to report for you right now. Take care! Have a groovy week!

Monday, October 26, 2015

NaNoWriMo is less than a week away! For those who don't know, that stands for National Novel Writing Month. I participated last year, but to be honest, I never finished the novel I was writing. The flow of my writing got interrupted by Thanksgiving, and I never got my groove back. I tried, but it didn't happen. This week, I'm reading over what I've written so that I can get back to it.

And here's a little bit of what's been written...

At the hospital, Kit and his mother found Isaac sitting in a waiting room. He looked exhausted and depleted. “Have you eaten,” was the first thing Mrs. Smeth asked. “Has anyone had a look at you.” Isaac shook his head no in response.
She handed Kit some money and said “get him some food! I’m going to find a doctor!” She stormed off, furious that this obviously hurt boy was left to sit in a waiting room. She walked up to the nurse’s station. “Why hasn’t that boy been seen to?”
“Who? The cyclops? He just sat down there after asking about the Marks kid.”
“Can’t you see that he’s been hurt? He’s also been depleted from casting a healing spell that helped to save Mr. Marks!”
“I… I’m sorry.” The nurse didn’t waste time. She thrust a clipboard with forms at Mrs. Smeth and then walked into the waiting room. “Young man, I apologize. I didn’t know you were hurt. If you’ll come with me, someone will have a look at you.”
“His name is Isaac Allahnason. I sent my son to get him some food,” Mrs. Smeth said. “Magical depletion needs calories. I’ll fill out this form, and I assume we can come back when my son returns with the food?”
“Of course,” the nurse said, leading Isaac away to an examination room. Mrs. Smeth shook her head and muttered something not very nice as she watched them walk away. They didn’t go far, and she saw what room the nurse took Isaac to.
She filled in what she could of the forms. After a few minutes, Kit returned with some food from the cafeteria. A sandwich, an apple, and some fruit juice. That would do for now.
“Come on,” she said. “They took him to an examination room.”
They knocked and walked into the room. Isaac was sitting on an exam table, stripped to the waist. Mrs. Smeth could see bruises and a few burns on his body, as well as some blood. Kit set the food down where Isaac could reach it.
“…my physiology isn’t any different from a regular human’s,” Isaac said. “I’m just bigger. I can provide my medical history if need be.”
The nurse nodded and began to check his heartbeat with her stethoscope.
Mrs. Smeth put the forms down by the food. “I’ve filled out what I can of these forms, Isaac. You’ll have to do the rest.” He nodded. “Do you want one of us to stay with you?”
“Kit,” he said, and the nurse shushed him! She needed to listen for irregularities.
“Fine,” Mrs. Smeth said. “Kit, come get me if you need me. I’ll be in the waiting room.”
Isaac nodded towards a chair in the corner, and Kit took a seat. The nurse took Isaac’s vitals before saying, “The doctor will want an x-ray to make sure nothing’s wrong internally. You need to strip down and put on one of these gowns.” She handed Isaac a cotton hospital gown, which he looked at skeptically.
He stood up and opened the gown. There is no way he could wear it. He looked at the nurse, who had been watching him. “If it’s all the same, can’t I just keep my underwear on? This isn’t going to fit me.”
“Fine,” she said. “Come with me. X-ray is across the hall. It’ll only take a few minutes and then you can come back here and wait.”
Kit waited for more than a few minutes, and finally Isaac walked back into the exam room. “They had to keep adjusting the x-ray machine,” Isaac said, smiling. He was amused at these nurses and technicians who thought that his being tall and muscular was somehow unusual. The x-ray tech was even rude enough to ask about his age, and then if he should have so much body hair at that age.
“What’s so funny,” Kit asked.
“Those people,” Isaac replied. “No manners. They said whatever came into their heads.”
“They didn’t treat you badly,” Kit said, his hackles rising.
“No. They were kind,” Isaac said. “But some of their comments about my person were not what you say to a stranger. They realized it and apologized.” After the x-ray tech had made his comment, he had turned a deep shade of red and said sorry.
“Okay,” Kit said, settling down. Kit liked the older boy a lot, and did not want anyone treating his friend badly. And he had a good idea what would happen if his mother found out that Isaac was being poorly treated. As it was, she was ready to spit nails at any and all of the bullies from earlier.
Isaac ate while they waited. They waited a while. And then a while longer. Finally the doctor came in, holding an x-ray photo. “Well, young man, it looks like you’re going to be okay. You mostly have bruises, which will heal. We have a shaman who is going to come in and look at those burns. Those seem magical, but not serious. He should be able to Heal them quickly.”
As if on cue, a Shaman walked into the room. Kit didn’t know what he was expecting, but he wasn’t expecting an ordinary man in hospital scrubs. The shaman didn’t say anything. He just walked over to Isaac and examined the burns while the doctor looked on. A few mutterings and gestures, and green light played over Isaac’s body, taking the burns away. Satisfied, the shaman nodded, and walked out of the room.
“You can get dressed now,” the doctor said. “You’ll probably be sore for a couple of days, and I understand you were using magic yourself. You need to eat more tonight than you normally would.”
“Yes sir,” Isaac said, pulling his pants on.
“Just give this chart to the nurse at the desk on your way out,” the doctor said, handing Isaac his chart.  With that, the doctor left.
Isaac pulled on his ripped shirt, and he walked out with Kit trailing behind him. Isaac handed the chart to the nurse, as well as the paperwork he had been given. She looked it over, rubber stamped a few places, and sent him on his way.
“I’m fine,” Isaac said when he saw Mrs. Smeth. “Just some bruises, and I need to eat because of the spell I cast.”
“Thank Goodness,” Mrs. Smeth said. “Let’s get you home and get you fed! I checked on that boy you healed. They wouldn’t tell me much. Just that he’s in stable condition.”
“Oh,” Kit said.
“I’d like to come back here after I eat and get cleaned up,” Isaac said. Both Kit and Mrs. Smeth were surprised. “I’d like to see how he’s doing myself.”

Even though he sat in the corner, trying to be unnoticed, there was no mistaking the young cyclops as he sat in the hospital waiting room. He had picked up bits and pieces of various conversations, so he knew that Danyl was going to be okay. He certainly didn’t expect to be approached by anyone.
“What are you doing here, Isaac?” Dean Sara Blake stood in front of him, looking him directly in the eye.
“I wanted to make sure Danyl was going to be alright… that nothing else would happen to him.”
The Dean regarded him for a moment. “He’s going to be fine. I think he’s sleeping right now. Would you like to come in and see for yourself?”
Isaac nodded, looking grateful. He had been distressed over Danyl all evening, afraid that his magic hadn’t been enough to save him.
“He is hurt,” Dean Blake said, leading the way to Danyl’s room. “Cracked ribs, and a broken arm. The hospital shaman enforced the healing that you gave him, and said that you had done an excellent job. They’re keeping him overnight for observation.”
They walked into Danyl’s room, which had been dimmed to help promote sleep. There was a window where a nurse could keep watch on Danyl from her station, and Dean Blake nodded to the nurse. She had set it up that Isaac could stay here if he wanted to.
“I’m going to go speak to the nurse,” Dean Blake said. “Stay as long as you like.” She slipped out of the room, watching Isaac stand at the foot of Danyl’s bed. She didn’t think he was going anywhere.

Danyl woke up in the middle of the night, his ribs hurting. Well, everything hurting to be honest. He sensed someone else in the room, and looked over to see…  The Cyclops was dozing in a chair by his bed. Wasn’t that just perfect?!?
“What are you doing here,” Danyl muttered, groggy from pain and medicine. At her window, the nurse noticed that Danyl was awake and moved towards the door.
Isaac woke up at Danyl’s question. “To make sure you’re okay,” he said gently. “How do you feel?”
“Terrible,” Danyl said. “Hurts.” The nurse came in and quickly injected more pain medicine into Danyl’s I.V. tube.
“This will help you sleep,” she said. “You need that right now to get better.”
“Fine,” Danyl muttered. He didn’t say anything else, but he continued to look at Isaac while the drug took effect. Isaac returned his gaze. As he began to drift off, he said, “you snore.”
“So I’ve been told,” Isaac said, but Danyl had already fallen back asleep.

On "staycation", sort of... Plus, more Monkees stuff!

This has been a slow week. I've sort of been on "staycation". By now, I assume that you all know what a staycation is. If not, it's where you have your vacation at home, often with the idea that you do some touristy things in your area. That said, mine has consisted of re-reading Mercedes Lackey's Valdemar novels. I'm currently on Storm Warning. (book photo comes from the web)

I tend to work some in the morning, mostly online but I have also been driving Mom to some morning appointments this week. Then, in the afternoon, I just read, and read, and read! It's been nice to have a bit of a break, while still managing to get some work done. I'm hoping to get myself down to the Riverside Arts Market this weekend as well.

On top of reading some Valemar novels, I also got to read Michael Nesmith's novel The America Gene. This was very well-written and interesting. The novel is about a 50 year old business man from Texas who decides he wants to sing the blues. He gets involved with a young, female blues singer. The journey these characters makes for great reading! I got my copy directly from Mr. Nesmith's web-site, and it was signed to me by him! YAY! Get yours at

This week, I also received a Monkees 1967 Annual from the UK. The book is in very good condition. I've only flipped through it so far, and it has a mix of articles, photos, and comics. I assume the comics are reprints of the American comic.

That's all the excitement I have to report on at the moment. I'm off... back to Valdemar!

Monkees sketch cards

I have completed drawing up a set of Monkees sketch cards, and I had a blast doing them! I often draw in an Archie Comics-esque style, and tried for some realism. I think I landed somewhere in the middle. Anyway, I hope you like the cards. If you're interested, you can find them for sale on eBay:

Custom Bokeh-Style Print Giveaway

Bokeh is defined by Wikipedia as: the aesthetic quality of the blur produced in the out-of-focus parts of an image produced by a lens. Bokeh has been defined as "the way the lens renders out-of-focus points of light".

Of course, using digital image editing programs, you can create your own Bokeh-style effects. I have taken to this, and have had a lot of fun with it! I have posted several of my creations here, and they are available at:

I am going to give one lucky winner a custom bokeh-style 11"x14" print! If you win, you tell me 2-4 colours you would like for me to use, and I will create a custom piece for you.
