About this blog, Hapy Birthday to me, and Hi-NRG DJ Mix!

So, I've been at this blogging thing for a little while now. I started this off with the idea that I would blog about traveling and adventures (like going to an art festival, for example). The trouble is, I don't do as much of that as I'd like. This blog has turned into a hodge podge about my life a bit. If I cook something new, I'll post the recipe, or where I found it. I'll post about the things I go do, and I post about my art. It's a mix of stuff about me and my life.

I am an artist and photographer, living in Florida. I draw comic book stuff, I paint abstracts, I take photos of things and people. A lot of my photography falls under the "beefcake" label, and is not for everyone. I find many men interesting and sexy, and I try to convey that in my work. My models are not just muscle hunks, but men of all looks, ages, body types, etc... That said, I do not wish to offend anyone, so I try not to post about it all that much. Instead, I focus on other photography, where I've taken photos at a park, in some city somewhere, etc... I do post from time to time about new t-shirts I've created, or other products that are available. Of course, there are links you can check out. (Please do so... if you like what you see, please consider making a purchase. Us "starving" artists have to make it somehow.) I am a working artist - this is not a "hobby", but how I earn my money.

Other things about my life: I'm a bit of an introvert. I like to read - a LOT! Comics and books... I read. And I read a variety of fiction... not just the sci-fi and fantasy one expects of a comic geek. I love drag queens, and I'm totally addicted to RuPaul's Drag Race. My favourite quote comes from Ru: "What other people think of me ain't none of my business!" I like movies, and I watch a little too much tv... beyond the usual programming, I'm often watching shows off Food Network, DIY, Travel Channel, HGTV, etc... I help out my parents a good bit, doing things around the house and driving Mom around when she needs to get out. Mom has MS, and gave up driving a couple of years ago... It was getting difficult, and she gave it up before her doctors told her she would have to. My brother and nephew live in town. I often do things with my nephew... go to the movies, or go to a comic convention. My oldest brother passed away last year. I get to see my sister-in-law and niece a few times a year, as they live in NC. This past year I spent several days down in Disneyworld with them, and hope to do so again next year. We went for my niece's birthday.

My grandfather was a politician. I've been scanning a lot of old family photos in order to preserve them digitially. A lot of these photos so far deal with Papa's time in office, and I have shared a few of those.

So, today is my 46th birthday. Not too much to say about that... Did birthday cake a few days ago with the family at Sunday lunch. Sorry, I didn't take photos. The family tradition is also to go out to dinner on (or around) someone's birthday, and we're doing that tomorrow. Nothing fancy - just going for fried shrimp! Yummy!

Earlier, I posted about buying a bunch of cds for myself as my present to myself. I like to treat myself a bit around my birthday. Yesterday, I was able to do a larger treat... and I got myself a dj mixing program called Mixmeister. The program does a good bit of the work for you in creating a mix, though you still have to make sure it sounds right. Anyway, here is the first mix I did! This mix is for promotional purposes only! If you like the music, you can find a good bit of it on iTunes or at www.almightyrecords.com.

  1. Happy birthday! Mine was yesterday and I turned the big five-oh. I got my first blu-ray player as a gift from a friend, and feel rather like I've finally entered the twenty-first century. Your Mixmeister sounds awesome. I'm a huge music fan myself, fifties through eighties, but you're just a young thing, I recognize the names but not the cover(?) artists you've listed. Thank you for enriching my life with your blog. I'm in awe of your sociability and creativity while dealing with the demon of depression. I'm all pills and therapy at this point, but you inspire me regardless. Many happy returns of the day!
